A magical and energizing New Year’s reception: a fiery start to 2025

🔥 What an exceptional afternoon we experienced during the New Year’s reception organized by Ecolo-Groen in Etterbeek! 🔥
Amid inspiring exchanges, moments of togetherness, and contagious energy, this celebration of the New Year left a lasting impression. In a warm and festive atmosphere, participants celebrated past successes while laying the foundation for a promising and collective future.
Meaningful speeches
The contributions of our special guests illuminated this unforgettable gathering. Vincent Biauce and Laurence Gallez, our local co-presidents, set the tone by emphasizing the importance of the common good. They highlighted significant achievements, such as the renovation of the orangery and Maison Hap, symbols of an ecological and inclusive vision at the heart of our projects.
Other accomplishments were also showcased, such as the rehabilitation of public spaces, ambitious climate plans, and improvements to school canteens. These tangible initiatives demonstrate an unwavering commitment to a more sustainable and inclusive future.
The co-presidents also took the time to warmly thank everyone who makes this work possible. Local campaigns, door-to-door efforts, and all contributions—often discreet but essential—were recognized and celebrated. It is these grassroots efforts, carried out with conviction over the past two years, that bring our shared ambitions to life.
Bart Dhondt, president of GROEN, emphasized the incredible energy that drives Etterbeek. This dynamism, the result of exceptional collective work, is palpable in every action undertaken. With a touch of enthusiasm, he called for solidarity with our colleagues in Saint-Josse, where municipal elections are scheduled for February 9th in a context marked by democratic challenges and the rise of populism. "Together, we generate this energy, and together, we will face these challenges," he declared with conviction.
Mobilizing for a shared future
Marie Lecocq, co-president of Ecolo and former member of our local group, expressed her pride in the collective work accomplished. While acknowledging past efforts, she reminded everyone that 2025 will be a year of major challenges. Through initiatives like the public survey (www.enquetepopulaire.be, available until February 15th), she invited everyone to get actively involved. "Faced with ecological, social, and democratic challenges, our goal is to build a fairer, greener, and more resilient society," she passionately stated.
An ambitious vision for 2025
The electoral results of 2024, with 21% of the vote in Etterbeek, positioned Ecolo-Groen as the second political force in the municipality. But this success is just a stepping stone. In 2025, we aim to:
- strengthen local cohesion,
- develop innovative social initiatives,
- deepen our ecological commitment,
- and build a constructive opposition to promote progressive and inclusive alternatives.
An afternoon of hope and energy
With over 100 participants, passionate discussions, shared drinks and pies, and palpable positive energy, this New Year’s reception proved that the values of ecology, solidarity, and democracy are more alive than ever in Etterbeek!
We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to making this event so magical and inspiring. Together, we are ready to face the challenges ahead and build a better future for Etterbeek and beyond.
🌱✨ Join us in making 2025 a year of hope, action, and collective success! ✨🌱
