Question to the College – Former Royal Ice Cellars site
25 septembre 2025

During the Municipal Council meeting of 22 September, Helena Ruiz Fabra questioned the College about the future of the former Royal Ice Cellars site.
The municipality of Etterbeek was consulted, as a neighbouring commune, regarding the project for the renovation and conversion of the former Royal Ice Cellars.
This project provides for the development of a mixed-use complex, including:
- retail and large-scale commercial spaces,
- facilities of collective and public interest,
- 128 apartments,
- a collective housing unit with 226 rooms for students,
- and an underground car park with 189 spaces.
In this context, I would like to ask the following questions:
- What position does the municipality of Etterbeek intend to take officially as part of this consultation?
- What elements of analysis or concerns — particularly regarding traffic, parking, mobility, public services, and the quality of life of local residents — will be shared with the promoting municipality and regional authorities?
- How does the municipality plan to communicate with its residents in order to inform them about this large-scale project and, where appropriate, gather their feedback and concerns?
