A few weeks ago, in the middle of the night, an explosion occurred on Avenue Édouard de Thibault.

Unfortunately, this was not the first explosion to take place in Etterbeek, and we have already discussed this issue during previous Municipal Council meetings.

I live on Place du Roi Vainqueur and was therefore among the local residents who were suddenly awakened, without immediately understanding what had happened. Since then, several neighbours have contacted me to express their concerns.

A leaflet was distributed to residents shortly after the incident, but understandably it contained only very limited information.

I would therefore like to ask the following questions:

1. Do you now have more information about this explosion, its causes and the people involved? Is there any link with the previous incidents that have occurred in Etterbeek?
2. Have any measures been put in place to strengthen the safety of Etterbeek residents and prevent similar incidents from happening again?

The investigation falls under the responsibility of the Federal Judicial Police. At this stage, the Mayor has no additional information and, in any event, is not in a position to disclose any details while the investigation is ongoing.
