Ecolo-Groen motion against home searches rejected by MR and Les Engagés
For the fourth time, we submitted our motion against home searches, an issue that goes to the heart of the protection of our fundamental rights and freedoms.
The proposed legislation would allow, under certain conditions, the police to enter private homes in order to arrest people staying in Belgium without legal residence status. Such a measure raises serious concerns about the inviolability of the home and the protection of fundamental rights.
For several months, many Etterbeek residents have also called on our municipality to take a clear position on this issue.
This Monday, the municipal majority finally agreed to take a position. Despite respectful and constructive debates, MR and Les Engagés chose not to support our motion.
More information will follow in the coming days.
