Town council meeting #40: energy premiums, billboards and swearing in

8 November 2022

The Commune of Etterbeek will intervene, in the way of a 400€ premium, in the energy bills of traders, craftsmen and companies. This represents an estimated budget of 240 000€. The bonus targets the sectors that are the most impacted by energy expenses. Note that the application for the bonus must be returned before 31/12.

At the request of our colleague Vincent Biauce, we have finally received the information that we have been asking for a few months concerning the Clearchannel billboard contract. There are 66 of these billboards on the municipal territory: they are no longer covered by an agreement and the planning permission for all of them has expired. This is a great opportunity to reduce the omnipresence of advertising in the public space of our neighborhoods!

We have also approved the agreement between the municipality of Etterbeek and the Brussels-Capital Region for the granting of a subsidy (50,000€) to study of the restructuring of the Square Forte Dei Marmi and a section of the Gray Street.

In addition, our local councillor Jean-Luc Debroux has requested that a commission be convened to evaluate the Broebel vouchers scheme. The vouchers aim to boost the local economy. Through this commission, we want to make sure that the scheme is achieving its objectives without being too cumbersome in terms of day-to-day management (for the administration and for the shopkeepers/craftsmen/entrepreneurs).

As we announced in our last feedback, our colleague Pieterjan Vanden Boer has been sworn in as 8th municipal office in charge of Ecological Transition, Health and Gender Equality!

Next town council meeting: Monday 19 December at 8 pm
