Town Council Meeting #43
Monday's Town council meeting was primarily devoted to the 2023 budget.
The budget presented is in slight surplus. Inflation, as was to be expected, has increased the revenue and expenditure items. Nevertheless, the municipal majority has been forced to control costs, mainly running costs. For personnel costs, a double indexation of 2% each is foreseen.
As every year, the administration has presented its "Gender Responsive Budget" analysis: this makes it possible to integrate a gender perspective into the budget process.
Do not hesitate to contact us for more information on these different budgets (which are accessible to the public).
The municipality has submitted their feedback on the future Regional Town Planning Regulation (which was under public inquiry until a few weeks ago). This version of the regulation presents substantial progress notably in public space sharing (less space for cars and more space for pedestrians and bicycles) and advertisement reduction (only bus shelters would be authorized). But it has one major weakness, namely numerous articles that are difficult to objectify.
Finally, the city council has validated, at the initiative of Pieterjan Vanden Boer (Ecolo-Groen), a new regulation regarding the allocation of an Ecological Transition subsidy. The aim is to promote local initiatives in the field of ecological transition. The subsidy (maximum 1 000€) is aimed at associations, youth movements and schools.
The next town council meeting will take place on Monday, March 20 at 8:00 pm. As a reminder, it is open to the public.
